One great aspect of summertime in New York City is the copious amount of free and next-to-free events that the city holds. Case in the point, last Thursday’s Metric show at the Prospect Park Bandshell, which, at the very reasonable price of a $3 suggested donation, was definitely worth the money. I arrived nice and early to stake out a good picnicing spot on the lawn so that Ashley and I could enjoy our spread of cheese, meats, grapes, guacamole and SIGG bottles full of wine. Although the picnic location was too far away from the stage to make for many good pictures of the bands, I feel I was able to capture some good shots of the atmosphere and it did not detract from the performance in the least. Metric rocked through all of my favorites, and by the end of the night I was completely full of food, wine and good spirits from a summer evening that could not have been better spent.
