Lake Placid and The Adirondacks

With the arrival of May comes anticipation of the impending summer. Soon enough the days will be long, the weather hot, and the city will turn into a ghost town every weekend as New Yorkers escape to the Hamptons, the Jersey shore and various other summertime destinations. These images seem at odds with today’s post, which chronicles an escape to a winter wonderland. In February, Ashley and I enjoyed a long weekend just south of Lake Placid in the Adirondack Mountains. We skied, hiked, ice skated and generally enjoyed the beauty and majesty of an area that I have been wanting to visit for a very long time. I can’t wait to return sometime in warmer weather.
